Boveresse Festival of Absinthe June 2007

June 2007 sees the 10th annual Absinthe Festival in Boveresse, Val-de-Travers, the birthplace of absinthe. If you haven't booked your accommodation yet, you may have problems unless you are willing to sleep on a distillery floor, or simply find a bar to drink the night away!

Here's a historic photo of the harvest in the Val-de-Travers many years ago:

Here's a photo from a recent festival (clue: the sun is shining)

and finally here's a photo of some celebrities from the world of absinthe at the Clandestine distillery as they take a few minutes out to watch Claude-Alain Bugnon at work.

No prizes are on offer, but if anyone wants to provide a caption for this photo, please go ahead and comment!

For further details of the June event, see the festival site.

Updated on June 13th: the timetable for the event.

"Never mind the Verte Suisse; where can I find a jeune suisse for tonight?"

Wow - this festival looks fascinating! I am quite intrigued... does it book up entirely?

That's not going to win the caption competition ... oh, it was a serious question!

Natalie, hotel accommodation is a problem at this stage. But if you don't mind staying 30 miles away, then it's no problem. Just don't drink and drive!

Otherwise, the options of drinking all night with some of the best informed absintheurs in the world, or sleeping on a distillery floor are still available.

You could probably justify a trip to this followed the next day by a trip to Vinexpo in Bordeaux (the biggest wine exhibition in the world).

What is the name of the celebs in the pic?

The celebs? Ian (Liqueurs de France), Oxy (Fée Verte), Ted Breaux (Jade), Markus (absinthe.se).
